The thought of revisiting some old familiar places was what finally sold it. As the story went, it did just that roamed around the island with his little adventures. The kicker was at the end. The ending was abrupt. It seemed more like, how can I make money out of this deal? Oh yea, we need a sequel. That's if there is a little warning or build-up to more even on the Amazon site I did not see the coming attraction. What was the real kicker is in the final pages, there are little come on's where the author encourages you to "see" his photos and meet him. Yea, for a small nominal fee you can "join" his site and then tour all those added attractions. I get wanting to make money; this just seemed a low blow. Let your readers know in advance this is a pay for veiw site before they go. Lot's less disappointment. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2020 )

Shelley -- Wisdom and adventure in Hawaii : Volume 2 of Ten Thousand Hours in Paradise is an incite full continuation of Andrew Crusoe’s experiences on the island of Hawaii. His participation in meditation exercises with Harry Jim raises his own awareness of human nature while aiding his readers’ own understanding. “Stupid self-destructs” and “Resentment is the deepest of gravities. It comes from re-rationalizing the world is against you.” I keep these concepts in my notes to remind myself how often we create our own difficulties. Andrew leads such a fun and interesting life, quite different from mine and most other mainlanders. The detail-rich diary format keeps the story going at a fast pace, yet still feels like a private conversation. The revelation was that the silent retreat put Andrew in a different world of being able to express how to express the inner workings of his brain ...and for the brain of each one of us. This book is of universal interest as we become aware that 95% of our brain activity is directed to our subconscious level. How do we deal with this and control it? Instead of Tribulations, even more appropriate a title would be Changes, which Andrew himself mentions. Read the first 40 pages and then from page 100 to see the difference. It will capture your attention as life in Puna District unfolds. Andrew's experience at the meditation center was educational since I've never been through such a program. I live on Hawaii Island, and discovered a couple places Andrews spoke of that I had not visited. It's interesting to learn how people arrive on this island and make themselves a life here.
